It is not surprising why Overwatch remains popular among many gamers. After all, it features diverse and interesting characters, rich environments, and exciting rewards. However, like many other video games, it is still riddled with bugs and glitches. One of the issues that users have been complaining about is the push-to-talk feature.
Users noticed that their in-game voice chat is malfunctioning. When they press the push-to-talk button, the voice icon does not appear on the top-left portion of the screen. In some cases, players couldn’t hear other people talk despite seeing their voice icon.
If you are experiencing the same problem, worry no more. We have created this post to teach you how to fix the ‘push-to-talk not working’ issue in Overwatch. We’ll share all the solutions that have proved to be effective to many users.

Solution 1: Restarting Your PC
Do not underestimate the healing powers of a computer restart. In most cases, a simple fix like this can resolve all your tech woes. So, if you are having trouble using the push-to-talk feature on Overwatch, we suggest that you shut down your PC and reboot it. After that, launch Overwatch and check if the issue persists.
Solution 2: Updating Your Audio Driver
The push-to-talk feature may not work on Overwatch because of damaged, outdated, or missing audio drivers. So, we recommend that you update your drivers to fix the issue. There are three ways to do this:
- Updating Your Audio Drivers via the Device Manager
- Downloading and Installing Your Audio Drivers Manually
- Using Auslogics Driver Updater to Fix Your Audio Drivers
Updating Your Audio Drivers via the Device Manager
- Go to your taskbar, then right-click the Windows icon.
- Select Device Manager from the list.
- Once Device Manager is up, click the Audio Inputs and Outputs category to expand its contents.
- Now, right-click your microphone, then select Update Driver from the context menu.
- On the next window, select the ‘Search automatically for updated driver software’ option.
- Perform Steps 4 and 5 for your speakers.
- Expand the contents of the Sound, Video, and Game Controllers category.
- Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for your audio device.
Downloading and Installing Your Audio Drivers Manually
While the Device Manager makes updating drivers convenient, this tool may still miss their latest versions. So, you may still have to go to the manufacturer’s website to get the right drivers for your operating system and processor. However, you need to be careful because installing an incompatible driver may lead to system instability issues.
